Reinhold Friedl visited George Lewis in Manhattan, New York, where he teaches compostion at Columbia University. Lewis presents various music, that has been important in this astonishing carreer, starting as a trombone player in the Count Basie Band, his education with the AACM, his work at IRCAM in Paris. And he also explains some of his theories about the European avant-garde and the influence of Jazz music on John Cage.

Approaching from divergent angles - Friedl uses entirely acoustic instrumentation, Dresselhaus uses electronics - they shape a mass of impurified prepared piano and sheet metal drones driven thru oscillators, spring reverb, modulators and pitch shifters to breathtaking effect. We've become very familiar with Friedl's amazing solo LP, 'Inside Piano' over the last few years, and equally return to Dresselhaus' Angel albums with Pan Sonic's Ilpo Väisänen on a regular basis, and can safely say that this surpasses either project in terms of scale, focus and impact. The chicago based composer Nicolas Collins presents music, that inspired him. Yann Geslin was a founding member or the Trio éléctroacoustique Instrumental TM+, he is teaching at the Paris conservatory and responsible for the archives at the GRM at Radio France. Geslin presents electroacoustic music, that has been important for him.

Reinhold Friedl premieres the piano version of Nic Collins Roomtone Variations, that refer to a computer-based acoustic analysis of the space. In the same concert: Arnold Dreyblatt’s Orchestra of Excited Strings and version of an Alvin Lucier composition by Nic Collins and Volker Straebel.
